  php

Q(Question):

Hi, I’m trying to experiment with the GD2 library(or GD for that matter) for
win32 platform BUT could not find any that support it. Could you tell me
where to find the binary of it? Thanks.

It’s included with the latest binary builds of php for win32, at least the 6M
version (which I just downloaded a few days ago). You just have to enable the
dll extension in the config file for php and it’ll be up and running.

I downloaded the 6+MB version as well and enable the dll
extension(php_gd2.dll); BUT when I query the information using phpinfo(),
GD2 is no where activated.

Perhaps the win32 binary(and the installer)version did not include GD2 when
built.

PS: I tried to use imagecreate() function of GD2 and it
told me that the function does not exist.
The same code I ran it on my linux version, and
it worked.

Please advice. Thanks.

Check if PHP_gd2.dll is in your extensions dir. If not Download it here
http://kromann.info/php4/php_gd2.dll
That sould work of course you still have to uncomment it!

you are correct, the installer version does NOT enable extensions nor does
it come with (m)any. you have to download the PHP installation that is
merely a .zip file, extract it to your PHP directory (after removing
everything else in it first), and config to personal liking.

the .msi installer really just installs the PHP parsing engine i think, no
bells or whistles at all.

A(Answer):

Tell me if i’m wrong;

CreateImageTrueColor is a gd2 only function, right?
If so, easyphp includes php, gd2, mysql, and stuff in one easy win32 install 🙂
